During harvest in the fall of 2007, the decision was made to become a commercial operation. Running Hare Vineyard opened its gates in August 2008. Since then, the winery has expanded from a 550 gallon tank capacity to a 12,772 gallon tank capacity and has produced over 100,000 bottles of wine to date. Running Hare wines have since won multiple regional and international medals for their wines. Since opening Running Hare Vineyard has continued to increase its production in order to keep up with the growing demands.
In April 2010, Running Hare Vineyard celebrated the grand opening of its new 8,400 sq. ft Tuscan styled events villa for weddings, corporate retreats and special events. In 2015, we became the first farm/winery in the state to open a craft beer garden in the vineyard. Guests can now come and enjoy Calvert Brewing Company craft beer as well as wine during the summer/fall season. Check out the brewery and new taproom at www.calvertbrewingcompany.com.
